The system links to AutoCAD drawings inputted during the initial setup, and
includes many security features to track and produce alarms regarding unauthorized
or incorrect patching. The system can produce job sheets for moves, adds and
changes (MACs), and as such MACs are completed, job sheets are automatically
cleared and the database updated in real-time. Troubleshooting cabling issues
becomes very easy as full topology diagrams including the device at the rack,
rack port, patch panel connectivity, switch port etc. can be instantly generated
so cabling discontinuities can be seen immediately.
The system also has the capability to detect where a device is on the network
using MAC addresses, so a PC moved to a new area can be detected in its new location
with database/documentation updated accordingly (including AutoCAD drawings).
By using an IP camera, unauthorized patching can be recorded in real-time and
a picture sent to an administrator after the event has occurred.
